EDIT: It’s been a back and forth race between Build Ford Tough™ and Professional Grade™, with the Expedition currently leading. Vote now!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Welcome to the fifth installment of Battle of the Base Wheels. Last time, we took an adventure into the land of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Despite stiff competition and a terribly-angled configurator image, you folks crowned the Mazda6 “King of the Beigemobiles”.

Kinja'd!!!

Something tells me you people took more than the wheels into consideration here...

Kinja'd!!!

Who accidentally clicked on the Altima?

Today we’re joining soccer moms across the country and pitting 5 full-size SUVs against one another. Before you ask about the Escalade, Navigator, etc., know that those luxury machines will face off in their own battle later on.

As a point of clarification, the purpose of these contests is to pick the contestant which you believe has the best looking base wheels .

As always, if you have a suggestion for a future battle, let me know in the comments.

Let the games begin!

The Expedition wheels are nice but they’re far better suited to a car of some sort and look a bit out of place on an SUV. Like someone in GTA put “Sport” wheels on a Karen Rebel.

The Yukon, though. Mmm, chrome. That shit’s classy

Sad Durango is sad.

It’ll get it’s turn in the Mid-Size edition.

I like the Expedition rims. The Yukon’s rims suit the Yukon far better than those suit the Expedition though.

And the Suburban’s just look odd. 5-spoke (or split 5, still a 5 to me) designs don’t work on 6-lug rims.

Yes, I hate mixing 5-spoke with 6-lug and vice versa. Just bugs my need for symmetry.

I expected to vote for the Tahoe.

Expedition looks GREAT though

I haven’t voted yet, but I think I’m in the GM camp. I just hate those black-accented wheels.

That’s actually my favorite part of them.

I voted for the Tahoe.

The expedition wheels look like those cheap Walmart auto zone rice rims you see on ricers.

Can GMC really be considered ‘base’? Aren’t all GMCs just fancy Chevys?

Durango isn’t bad for base wheels either.

My logic is far from aesthetic on this one: I pick the Toyota wheels, because I know the bolt pattern is easy to find and they are small enough to fit big chunky tires on. Then the Chevy, then the Nissan.

The alternative would be to leave them in a no man’s land since Cadillac occupies the top spot for GM.

I’m categorizing the Durango as mid-size for these purposes since it’s unibody and more closely aligned with the Explorer/Traverse/etc.

Yea I suppose so. I always forget the Traverse exists though.

Nissan’s, Toyota’s and that other Dodge pictured wheels all look like they belong in the early 2000s.

I can’t believe the old Armada and Sequoia are still on sale.

I wonder if Nissan and Toyota even know.

The Armada is substantially cheaper than the others, which is the only reason I can see that they still sell.
